But if the student intends to be a practicing lawyer they might as well pay as soon as they have funds and get it over with. I find this an idiotic paradox with the example used.

Um, yes that combo can yield a B+ baby, and anyone who works in that area of a hospital knows that. It's not super common, but hundreds of babies like that are born every year in the US alone. It can be a form of chimerism (once thought rare, now believed to be between 6-10% of the population), where one parent absorbed a fetal twin in Utero and carries DNA elements of that absorbed twin. The Blood type can pass down on that way. In the days before DNA tests or before they were affordable, blood tests is how it was done, though some places they tested the grandparents too, so see if it was possible for chimerism. However with DNA tests today, its easier. I am one of these rare people. I have a blood type that should not be possible based on my parents, however DNA (our whole family did those kits) show I am their child.

I don’t own a single thing that isn’t covered in cat fur, even after professional dry cleaning. I wouldn’t have it any other way but I feel distant sympathy for people allergic to cats. Very distant. It’s like they’re aliens I’m trying to relate to but can’t.

I did not know this.. never read Manga and have yet to be financially able to travel out of the US. Also spent my life so far immersed in science, animals, and vet med instead of culture. I knew some languages read right to left on a page but never considered that book pages would also turn differently. Huh.

I'm not ignorant, did bot vote for Trump, and am in fact very well educated (doctorate). I use those words when I'm talking among friends or family. I do understand the stereotype though, as long as you recognize that it is simply a false stereotype.

This on confuses me because a potato will not bake at 25 C or F. That's 77F. My house was over 80F today. Nothing baked itself. Not even the potatoes that were on my counter.

“AITA For Refusing to Pay My Cat-Sitter?”

Just to be devils advocate- pls keep in mind I am a single & human-child-free vet, and have 5 indoor cats that are my life. A couple ESH/YTA comments made me think. If I screwed up and cost my employer a bunch of money (I absolutely have, early in my career I made a $5k+ mistake), I'd still get paid. I might get fired after that (I was not, employer was very kind and saw how I was beating myself up over it) or not rehired if it was a gig job, but I'd still get paid. Is this situation different? I truly don't know what I would do if I was the cat owner in this situation, and I'd be so upset I might not even be able to speak, so am not saying ESH or YTA by any means. Just that those couple comments made me think.

Technically that isn't the white of the eye (sclera), it's an extension of the conjunctiva (bulbar conjunctiva). Conjunctiva loves to swell up. Usually it's very thin and transparent on the sclera so you don't really notice it is even there until it swells.

Tetracycline or similar antibiotic use as a child or adolescent (while tooth is still forming) will do this.

Terrible technique on that radiograph 😆 It's also pretty old (or from a less tech advanced country), not a digital x-ray. At least in vet med, a bone screw in the spine should not come out the other side of the bone- can't tell if that is happening here though due to poor xray technique (settings that made the bone barely visible). ETA- saw another similar image later in this post. Maybe this image technique wasn't poor and was intentional. Shrug. I'm just a silly dog and cat Dr with a little extra experience in neurosurg.

Nah, they got to cut it all out. I forgot what it's called but I saw a post about it sometime in past year and went to read about it. Even though it's not a malignant cancer (doesn't spread to other parts of body) it is still locally invasive and has to be removed.
